ELECTIO LAB, in partnership with other international NGOs and academic partners, is facilitating a Workshop on Election Observation ahead of the upcoming Portuguese presidential elections scheduled for 18 January.

The training will take place between 15 and 18 January and will offer participants hands-on instruction in election observation methodology, delivered by experienced international experts.

Upon completion, participants will have the opportunity to engage as international observers in future electoral processes, gaining first-hand field experience in election observation.

Although Portuguese legislation does not formally provide for election observation, participants will nevertheless have the opportunity to attend the preparation of polling stations and other election-related activities, offering valuable insight into the Portuguese electoral process.

Workshop Overview

The workshop will provide detailed guidance to prepare election observers for effective future engagement with international organizations and international NGOs in the field of election observation.

Step One: Orientation and Training

Begin with comprehensive briefing sessions that establish the mission’s goals and equip observers with essential knowledge for election observation.

Step Two: Field Observation

Engage actively in on-site observation, documenting electoral processes to ensure transparency and democratic integrity throughout the election period.

Step Three: Reporting and Debrief

Compile findings and participate in debrief sessions to contribute meaningful insights that support future electoral improvements.
